This page explains how to request deletion of the data Vindam processes in connection with Facebook and WhatsApp, exactly what we delete, and how long it takes.
1. Who processes what
Vindam is a Meta Tech Provider. We do not own the WhatsApp Business accounts we operate: each business customer connects their own account and authorises us to manage it on their behalf. Who you should address your deletion request to therefore depends on who you are:
| Who you are | What data of yours exists | Who to contact |
|---|---|---|
| Admin who connected a WhatsApp Business account through Vindam | Your Facebook user ID, the access token you granted and the list of permissions granted | Vindam. We are the controller of this data. Sections 2, 3 and 4 |
| Vindam business customer | Your account data, your connected phone numbers and your contacts' conversations | Vindam. Section 4 |
| Person who messaged a business that uses Vindam over WhatsApp | Your phone number, your WhatsApp display name and the content of that conversation | The business you messaged, which is the controller of that data. Vindam only processes it on their instructions. If you cannot reach them, write to us and we will forward your request (section 4) |
2. From Facebook (deletes your data automatically)
If you connected an account to Vindam using your Facebook profile:
- Go to Facebook → Settings & privacy → Settings.
- Open Apps and websites.
- Find Vindam (
CHATCORE_VINDAM) in the list. - Click Remove.
The request reaches us automatically and immediately. Facebook will show you a confirmation code; keep it, as it lets you check the status of your request at any time (section 5).
If instead of deleting your data you only remove the app, we still revoke the credentials you granted us: we lose access to your WhatsApp Business account at that same moment.
3. From the Vindam dashboard
If you have dashboard access, you can disconnect a number yourself, without contacting support:
Settings → WhatsApp Business → Disconnect on the relevant number.
Disconnecting deletes that number's credentials and unsubscribes our application from the WhatsApp Business Account, with the same effect as section 2.
4. By email
For any other case — including people who have chatted with one of our business customers and have no Vindam account — write to support@vindam.com with the subject "Data deletion", stating:
- The WhatsApp number concerned, or the name of the business you messaged.
- A contact email where we can reply.
- What you want deleted (everything, one specific conversation, your contact details…).
We may ask for additional verification before running the deletion, to make sure nobody requests the deletion of someone else's data. We reply within 30 calendar days at the latest, and usually much sooner.
5. Checking the status of your request
With the confirmation code Facebook gave you:
https://app.vindam.com/eliminacion-de-datos?code=YOUR-CODE
You will see one of these statuses:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Received | We have registered your request. |
| Processing | The deletion is running. |
| Completed | The deletion has finished. The date is shown. |
| Failed | Something prevented it from completing. Email support@vindam.com with your code and we will resolve it manually. |
That page shows no personal data — only the status of the request.
6. What we delete, and what we do not
Deleted immediately:
- The access token you granted us to operate the WhatsApp Business account.
- The number's two-step verification PIN.
- The messaging channel keys associated with that number.
- The connection is marked as revoked and we unsubscribe our application from your WhatsApp Business Account: we stop receiving its messages.
Not deleted automatically, and here is the legitimate reason why:
- The business customer's conversations and contacts. They do not belong to the person who once clicked "connect", but to the business: they are its history with its own customers. Deleting them at an admin's request would destroy third-party data that nobody asked us to erase. They are deleted when the responsible business requests it, or when the data subject requests it through that business (section 1). You can ask us via section 4 and we will process it with the business.
- The record of the request itself (confirmation code, date and status). We keep it so we can demonstrate to you and to the supervisory authority that your request was handled. It contains none of your data.
- Information we are legally required to retain (for example accounting or invoicing records), for the statutory period and not used for any other purpose.
7. Timeframes
| Where | Timeframe |
|---|---|
| Production systems | Immediate (seconds after we receive the request) |
| Backups | Within 30 calendar days, as the backup cycle rotates |
| Email requests | Reply and execution within 30 calendar days |
| Requests forwarded by a business customer | 15 business days, under Annex A.9 of the Privacy Policy |
